After a long wait, finally direction The Smiling Coast, direction BJL, Gambia’s only airport. Already a long day, so you really hope to reach soon your hotel, where a drink is waiting. But first…BJL , the airport.
BJL is a nice little airport. Time needed for all formalities + luggage: usually around 45 minutes. One exception: when just before you did land another plane, that means a longer wait…
The airport, step by step :
- With bus from plane to airport building.
- paying security fee, 20 euro
- passport, sometimes they ask name of hotel
- luggage. There are 2 carrousels, your luggage can be partly on BOTH. Certainly help will be offered. Not really necessary but you help a family, to pay at parking.
- last scanning luggage. Sometimes extra control, certainly don’t give money!!!
- direction arrival hall, keep the little luggage tickets ready.
- we are waiting for you, WELCOME IN THE GAMBIA
Direction hotel. Did take sometimes a couple of hours, traffic jam. But now a new highway between airport and touristic center Senegambia , driving time now 25 minutes, your drink is waiting…..
